ALL THINGS FERN
Ferns grow all over the world and we picked a few of our favorites from what grow in tropical climates. The fern as a plant is rather versatile. What we love about them most however, is the grace with which they dip. Creating a very attractive, un-manicured natural effect in your interior-scape. They add volume when placed in contrast with lean, tall plants. They can also stand alone, when propped up on a shelf or an elegant stand. The 'maidenhair fern' with its tiny leaves and dreamy spread, the 'small rabbit foot' fern, which is great for table top plants, and the most popular 'Boston fern' plant are the few we selected for this blog.
The Maidenhair Fern (Adiantum Raddianum) is a tropical Plant that has high diversity in Asia and very well suited for the Indian Subcontinent.Their light green, feathery-like foliage adds unique charm to just about any setting.
The small rabbit foot fern is from the Davalliaceae family which is found in Malaysia. Because of the small leaf size, the fern acts as ornamentation to the minimal interiors. As the rhizomes grow out from the plant, new leaves will sprout from it along the way. These rhizomes or ‘feet’ can be fashioned to grow in any direction.
Boston Fern Plant (Nephrolepis exaltata), is native to tropical regions throughout the world. This has gracefully arching fronds portrays a great aesthetic value to the room. This can grow 3-6 feet tall with alternate leaflets on either sides, each of which can be 2-8 cms long.
love how much drama a simple fern creates in this otherwise straight forward white kitchen and white window ledge seating corner(right). It also compliments the money plant twining down, creating an aesthetic that feels effortlessly graceful.
here is a great example of a maidenhair fern used long with other dip plants creating a complimentary piece of art. its also such a breath of fresh air, when compared to huge random things we hang on top of our beds, in the name of decor.
